Noteworthy! I wish all of you a very happy Thanksgiving. Travel safely and don't forget to "count " your blessings. I know I will.
Social Studies
We are winding our way through the Roman Empire. We expect to finish the first week of December. The children have their ancient civilizations book and their social studies book to read and study from.
Science
We are working on animal adaptations. It is in section A of the science book. The children will need to know about mimicry, camouflage, hibernation, migration, and different animal defenses. The children have a new species of animal that they have "discovered." As a final project for this unit, the children will have to name their animal, tell me where it would live, how and what it eats, how it moves, and how it defends itself. They should be using the terminology we are learning in class to write their paper. We will go to the library to research possible characteristics of this new creature next week. Most of the writing will be done in class. The children will also be creating a 3 dimensional clay figure of their animal in art.
Is it poisonous or mimicry?
Math
Unit 4 is on multiplication. We will talk about the process of multiplying and dividing, but the children will need to memorize their times tables at home. If they don't aready have flash cards, they need them now. They would make a great holiday present.
